I am still hung up on traffic laws. I have struggled with this my whole driving life. Even writing this for all the world to see means accountability I don’t want. It shouldn’t be this big of a deal. But the Holy Spirit won’t leave me alone.
I am not a big rule follower. This includes traffic laws. I thought I was meant to be a racecar driver, but there was a price to pay. As hard as I tried to be good, I couldn’t stop this behavior. It’s because by nature, I am cursed.
Have you ever been duped into believing something, only to find out later it wasn’t true? Sometimes this happens and it is just a minor inconvenience or slight embarrassment. But sometimes the consequences of being duped are huge, as if someone put a hex on you!
The boy I punched in the nose was pointing me out to his parents. I started to shrink back, but then my daddy put his arm around me like he was proud. In essence, he was teaching me these boys had it coming and clearly my actions were justified.
There was someone I looked up to who was edgy and cool. I shared private things about people I loved to impress her and then she used it against them. When they confronted me, I tried to tell them I never intended to hurt them, but they felt betrayed.
If you have ever been set free from bondage, you will fight for that freedom. It could be bondage to control, addictions, approval, relationships, even grief. Maybe you’re in bondage through no fault of your own. Once you have been released, you will never want to be enslaved again.
I got in trouble a lot in the middle school years. That’s when I did my best sinning. I couldn’t outrun my reputation. It followed me for years. Teachers that really liked me would give me the benefit of the doubt, but those that didn’t, made false assumptions.
There have been many times in my life that people have told me, it’s going to be okay, when they have no idea if it is or not. The Good News is that Jesus Christ made everything okay when He rescued me and set me free.
Wouldn’t you say yes to removing the pressure of trying to be something you’re not and replacing it with discovering the person you were meant to be? This is what it means to Live Free. And it is yours for the taking.
